Answers to common problems in pump station operation: abnormal power consumption ​

 

 

In the operation of pump station, abnormal power consumption is a common problem, which has various reasons and different solutions. ​

 

Reason 1: Pump-Network Mismatch ​ When a pump's parameters (e.g., head and flow rate) don't match the pipeline system requirements, it significantly reduces operational efficiency and increases energy consumption. For example, if the pump's head exceeds the actual required pressure in the pipeline network, the excess head converts into energy loss, resulting in higher electricity bills.

 

Solution: Professional technicians should conduct a comprehensive inspection of the water pump and pipe network system, and match the parameters of the water pump according to actual needs. If the pumping height of the water pump is too high, consider replacing the water pump with an appropriate pumping height; if the flow rate does not match, adjust the model of the water pump or make appropriate modifications to the pipe network.

 

Reason 2: Impeller wear ​ After long-term operation, the impeller of the pump will be worn due to water flow erosion and impurity friction. The worn impeller will destroy the normal flow state of water flow, resulting in reduced efficiency of the pump. In order to achieve the original water discharge effect, the motor needs to consume more power. ​

 

Solution: Regularly check the wear of impeller, and replace the impeller in time once serious wear is found. At the same time, strengthen the filtration of water inlet to reduce impurities entering the pump and delay the wear speed of impeller. ​

 

Reason 3: Pipeline blockage ​ If silt, debris and other things accumulate in the pipeline, the cross-sectional area of the pipeline will be reduced and the water flow resistance will increase. In order to overcome the increased resistance, the pump needs to output more power, thus increasing the power consumption.

 

Solution: Clean the pipeline regularly to remove internal blockage. High-pressure water flushing and mechanical cleaning can be used to ensure smooth flow of the pipeline. In addition, install trash racks at the inlet to prevent large particles from entering the pipeline. ​
