Recently, the integrated prefabricated pumping station along the Qizao River in Shanghai's Pudong New Area was successfully installed, marking a new phase in the water management of this vital ecological waterway in central Pudong. As a key component of the comprehensive ecological clean small watershed remediation project in Pudong New Area, the commissioning of this intelligent pumping station not only upgrades the regional flood control and drainage system but also exemplifies Pudong's commitment to the "People's City" concept and its efforts to build a resilient city.

The pressing challenges of water management have driven technological innovation. The Qizao River, stretching approximately 2.9 kilometers from the Outer Ring Canal in the west to Zhou-Deng Highway in the east, is a planned secondary river in Pudong New Area. With the accelerated urbanization of Chuansha New Town and Zhoupu Town, the population density in the area has surged to over 8,000 people per square kilometer, placing immense strain on the original decentralized drainage system.

Inadequate flood control capacity: The current river's normal water level ranges between 2.5 and 2.8 meters, while the designed flood control level reaches 3.75 meters, making it prone to backflow and waterlogging during heavy rainfall. During Typhoon In-Fa in 2023, three waterlogging points emerged along the Qizao River, with the deepest reaching 50 centimeters.

This integrated prefabricated pumping station, measuring 3.5 meters in diameter and 3.7 meters in height, features a modular design:
Durable construction: The GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) cylinder boasts a compressive strength of 120 MPa and a service life exceeding 50 years.
Smart regulation: Equipped with IoT sensors, it automatically adjusts pump operation frequency via a cloud-based platform.
As a comprehensive smart water conservancy project, it fosters harmonious coexistence between the city and nature.
